The Mission Control group is responsible for all functions relating to keeping the plant running. Specifically: Incident Management, User and Batch Support, Monitoring and Reporting of Processing, Milestones and Delays (“Ready For Business”), Alert monitoring, Change and Release Management, Infrastructure Management, Metric and Trend Analysis, Maintenance of Application Inventory, Production and Developer Access Controls reviews, Business Continuity Planning, Performance, Capacity, and Resiliency monitoring and planning, Audits (internal, external), Tools and Automation of Support functions, Continuous improvement of our flows and applications via feedback to development teams

This is a role for a hands-on developer to join our Mission Control Tools team. We are looking for someone with good knowledge of Java, database, and Perl development in a Linux environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role will involve participating and/or taking the lead in developing, enhancing and supporting systems that support our Mission Control organization. The role involves close cooperation with our CTO organization, as well as our application development silos. The initial focus of the work will be development of an instrumentation infrastructure, and a standard build and release mechanism for all our applications. The team utilizes agile development methodologies and is focused on supportability of our applications and efficiency of our support organization.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Technical Skills:
- Strong Java; server and client side.
- Strong working knowledge of Unix, scripting, Perl.
- Experience of a enterprise DBMS (ideally Sybase).
- Experience of test driven development and unit testing would be advantageous.

Relevant Skills/Qualifications:
- Be able to integrate with the existing team both locally and in remote locations.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively.
- Motivated to deliver technology solutions in a dynamic business environment.
- Responsive with an attention to detail.
- Strong sense of ownership and driven to manage tasks to completion
